I think depression is wearing me down even though I live an active life style,How can I fix this?
I think my depression stems from that fact that my father is terminally ill with cancer and has only a few more months to live.
I work 6 days a week it seems like working and staying busy and working out is the only thing that keeps from being depressed all the time.
When I get home from work I don’t want to do anything or go anywhere I don’t do much at all I feel so down and its very difficult to sleep.
As one of my contacts, I have seen many of your answers and questions. I know you to be very intelligent. Unfortunately intelligence makes one more susceptible to depression.
I am sorry to hear about your father, I hope that he can find peace.
Going to the gym is a great way to fight off depression. Staying busy can help, but it is often just a distraction. I would encourage you to try and come to terms with your father’s illness so that you can be there for him. Trying to ignore it will not change the outcome, and you do not miss the time that you do have with him.
I do not know your whole situation, but I encourage you to talk to someone about it. You may need to be on an SSRI for a while, or maybe just talking to a counselor will help. You do not want to look back and think what a horrible few years these were.
